Push America

Push America, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was founded by members of Pi Kappa Phi in 1977 and remains the exclusive service learning project of the Fraternity, with the purpose of instilling lifelong service in our members and serving people with disabilities.

Ingenuity has allowed for Push America to develop premier programming for Pi Kappa Phi undergraduates and alumni. What started out as construction of a therapeutic play unit has evolved into nationally recognized cycling events and construction projects that work collectively to promote a greater understanding of people with disabilities.

Members of Pi Kappa Phi have raised nearly $8 million dollars in support of the projects and programs of Push America as well as donated thousands of man hours to renovate facilities that serve people with disabilities across the country.

The mission of Push America: Building leaders of tomorrow by serving people with disabilities today.

Cycling Events
Nationwide, Push America's Cycling Events raise funds and awareness on behalf of people with disabilities, providing a unique opportunity for members of Pi Kappa Phi to get involved in serving others on a national level. For over 18 years, we have crossed the country spreading a message of acceptance and understanding of people with disabilities, all from the seat of a bike!

The Journey of Hope and Gear Up Florida are the two premier cycling events organized by Push America. Both teams are made up of undergraduate and alumni members from colleges and universities across the country. Once accepted to the team, each team member commits himself to raising money to support the projects and programs of Push America. This money benefits people with disabilities through the various other projects of Push America.

Along the routes, team members participate in a variety of events, in an effort to improve the lives of people with disabilities. From dances with local organizations that serve people with disabilities, to on-field presentations at Major League Baseball Games, the team members become full-time advocates for individuals with disabilities. They also perform dozens of Kids on the Block puppet shows for elementary school children, as well as other programs to educate children on the abilities of people with disabilities.
